The magic of our community window art theme "Into the Woods" continues!  First, we made trees. Then miniature woodland creatures and habitats for them. Now, we're adding fairy houses. No special skills necessary. Ideal for ages 8 and up. Teens are eligible to earn service hours!

Learn fun, spooky moves with the Dee Buchanan Studio of Dance, or take some time to visit our low-sensory coloring space for a more relaxed environment. There will be Halloween fun for everyone! Family-friendly costumes are encouraged for this event. This is an adaptive program designed for adults with developmental disabilities and their caregivers.

Join the Alzheimer's Association at Urbana Regional Library for a three part Alzheimer's Education Series. At this third and final course, you'll learn about healthy habits for your brain, like exercising and eating right. Hear why brain health is important at all ages and build a personalized action plan for brain-healthy habits. Other events in this series include "Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia" on October 14 and "The 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s" on October 28. Come to any or all that interest you! Welcoming a new baby is one of life's biggest transitions. Grounded in a health and wellness perspective, this free event is designed to support and empower pregnant individuals and their families in Frederick County. This program is presented in partnership with Family Connects Frederick County and Inner Evolution.

Preparing for Life’s Biggest Transitions Pregnancy and preparing for early parenthood is a lot of work! This All Hallow’s Eve, Raya Bichefsky, Urbana Regional Library Associate, will guide us on an interpretive, immersive and interactive journey through time and place, recreating human stories behind local legends of the Point of Rocks riverfront. Composite characters summoned from historical data will illuminate how our ancestors processed grief and built resilience on the river frontier. Costumes welcome. Memory Cafe is a safe and relaxed place where people with early-stage memory loss and their families and friends can come together for social engagement. Bastian of AB arts LLC, a life enrichment company, will be presenting Brunswick Library’s teens with an hour of cooking, yes indeed, without a kitchen. Learn how to utilize basic and affordable electric appliances to create healthy and delicious full meals including dessert. No kitchen experience needed and everything will be provided, simply come ready to cook and eat! This program involves food and allergens may be present. In accordance with county regulations, participants who would like to consume food must be at least 13 years old. This program is for teens in 8th through 12th grades (ages 13-18).

Join the Alzheimer's Association at Urbana Regional Library for a three part Alzheimer's Education Series. This course, the second of three, helps caregivers recognize common signs of the disease in themselves and others and identify next steps to take, including how to talk to their doctor. Other events in this series include "Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia" on October 14 and "Building Brain-Healthy Habits" on November 18. Come to any or all that interest you! We will explore stress management tips and create an individual stress management plan. Our activity, Bling your Book, will allow you to personalize your favorite book cover by adding decorative elements such as rhinestones, gems and other embellishments to the cover.  You will turn a favorite read into a shimmering masterpiece.  Bring your own or we will have books available. Create one for yourself and one to donate.

Instruction will focus on addressing personal themes and concepts; while learning a variety of watercolor painting, collage and image transfer techniques. Bring your own journal to create and explore (optional). A variety of art tools and paper will be provided (while supplies last). For grades 6-12. About the Artist: David Modler is a maker, scholar and professor from Baltimore, Maryland. He earned his B.S. and M.Ed. degrees in Art Education from Towson State University and his M.F.A. in studio practice from James Madison University. Modler works obsessively in visual journals, and his work is rooted in art and social practice structures, cultivating community engagement, and exploring collaborative systems. He currently serves as a fully tenured Professor of Art, Coordinator of Art Education, and the Chair of the Department of Contemporary Art, Communication, and Theater at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
