We acknowledge that the success Frederick County has enjoyed, or may enjoy in future generations, is indebted to others whose fundamental contributions were not given freely. Frederick County Government actively works to document and bring awareness to the historical injustices suffered by indigenous peoples and enslaved individuals on this land. Building on the County’s work, it is FCPL’s intent to take positive steps to address fundamental inequalities and injustices in our community and to do so with a richer understanding of how we arrived at this moment.
