Symphony Storytime with Frederick Symphony Orchestra!

Symphony Storytime with Frederick Symphony Orchestra!

Symphony Storytime is returning in full swing this spring, and for the first time will be expanding to include performances at all eight branches of FCPL. Symphony Storytime features storytelling brought to life through Frederick Symphony Orchestra member performances. This sensory-enriched story experience is designed to introduce children to classical music through picture books.

This program is free and for all ages, but is geared toward children ages 2–6.

Symphony Storytime began its inception in the spring of 2014 at Urbana Regional Library where over 600 children and family members eagerly participated in the event. During the Storytime, children and their parents experience a live musical collaboration between the library reader and a Frederick Symphony Orchestra musician. Musicians play short selections, talk about their instrument, answer questions, and, after the stories are read aloud, audience members can take a closer peek at the instruments.

This season’s Symphony Storytime will embrace Frederick Reads’ 2015 theme of Wonder: Escape the Ordinary and will feature picture books that fuel a child’s capacity to dream and wonder.
