Babies With Books: Birth to Twenty-Four Months

Thursday, June 6, 2013 - 2:30pm to 3:00pm
Learning to read begins BEFORE your child starts school - as a matter of fact, it begins at birth! Delight and stimulate your baby with songs, a story and activities. Get to know other families an help your baby develop listening and language skills. Tickets will be available on the day of the program for the first 15 parent/child pairs. This program is limited, so come early for your ticket.

Starlight Family Storytime

Bring the whole family for an evening of storytime fun. We’ll read, move, and rhyme with a different theme each week. Nurture a love of reading through books, music, activities, and Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) elements. Almost bedtime? Feel free to wear your pajamas.

First Friday Fun Fest at Westview Promenade

Frederick County Public Libraries teams up with Westview Promenade for Free, Fantastic Summer Fun every First Friday. Just drop by for a variety of story time, music, games, and crafts. Each month features a special theme and unique activities. Best for ages 2-6 with an adult.

Storyland: A Sensory Storytime for Little Ones

Join us for a special storytime in partnership with Frederick County Infants and Toddlers Program. Meet new friends and share books, music, activities, and more. Ages birth - 3 years with an adult. Registration opens two weeks before the storytime event.

Is your curious toddler transitioning from baby to child? Transition to Twos nurtures this exciting time in your child’s development through books, movement, music and rhymes. We’ll begin learning to play with others, wait turns, and listen to stories, as well as dance, sing, laugh and have fun! This storytime is designed specifically for caregivers and children 18 months to 30 months. Registration is available two weeks before the monthly program series begins.

Read to a New Dog Friend - Wags for Hope

Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog! The Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program improves children's reading and communication skills by employing a powerful method: reading to a dog. But not just any dog. R.E.A.D. dogs are registered therapy animals who volunteer with their owner/handlers as a team, going to schools, libraries and many other settings as reading companions for children. This program is held every 4 weeks. Jun 9, Jul 14, Aug 11.
