Transition to Twos

Is your curious toddler transitioning from baby to child? Transition to Twos nurtures this exciting time in your child’s development through books, movement, music and rhymes. We’ll begin learning to play with others, wait turns, and listen to stories, as well as dance, sing, laugh and have fun! This storytime is designed specifically for caregivers and children 18 months to 30 months.

Homeschool Literature Group - Classic

Petite Playgroup at the Library!

Enjoy an hour of independent play during which you and your child can socialize with other parents, caregivers and children! Each playgroup will start with 15 minutes of stories, rhymes and songs led by your friendly children's librarian. The library will provide the space and a variety of educational toys to explore and share! For ages 0-3.

Preschool Science Fair (ages 3-6)

Calling all future scientists! Join us for an afternoon of experiments and discoveries! This hands-on event is a fantastic way to experiment with basic scientific concepts using a variety of tools and materials. Explore and learn as you travel through 4 fun science fair stations. Be prepared to get a little messy! Ages 3-6, with an adult. Register early as space is limited!

Harry Potter Book Club : Chamber of Secrets

The Chamber of Secrets as been opened at Hogwarts North (a.k.a. the Thurmont Regional Library)! 2nd year students may find themselves facing many dangers such as having a photo op with a house elf and concocting polyjuice potions. Register early and receive an "owl" from Professor B McBeegall.

STEM Squad

Come learn about the STEM Lab's drone! In this program series, children will learn how drones work, fly the drone, and make a short video using the drone. It is strongly encouraged that children attend all three sessions--Sept 17, Oct 22, Nov 19. Ages 10-13. Registration required.

Through the Lens:Framing a Sense of Home Gallery Event

Join us for the culmination of the Through the Lens: Framing a Sense of Hope project held in conjunction with the One Maryland One Book, The Distance Between Us. This evenings event will feature a gallery display of photographs from the project depicting the participants sense of their community, and the hidden, unusual and undiscovered sights within it - through a lens.
