The Thurmont Historical Society and the Thurmont Regional Library are hosting guest author, Jim Rada discussing his newest book: The Last to Fall: The 1922 March, Battles, & Deaths of U.S. Marines at Gettysburg. The book strong connection with Thurmont, and Emmitsburg. In 1922, more than a quarter of the U.S. Marine Corps through Frederick County on the way to Gettysburg. Along the way, the Marines were greeted by crowds and they camped at both the Frederick Fairgrounds and Hooker Lewis' farm in Thurmont going to and returning from Gettysburg.

This adult paper craft meetup is being arranged as a community service through the Friends of the Thurmont Regional Library. Do you scrapbook, stamp, make cards, or some other paper craft? Big Read Book Discussion - 'The Things They Carried'

The 'Off the Shelf Book Club' is participating in The Big Read 2015 and will be discussing 'The Things They Carried' (1990), a book considered one of the best about the Vietnam War. Far from a combat story of pride and glory, it is a compassionate tale of the American soldier, brimming with raw honesty and thoughtful reflection. Dog Days of Summer Fun Extravaganza

Join us for a special day celebrating Man's Best Friend! Read with a special therapy dog (from the Wags for Hope organization), meet a local vet and learn some training tips from the Bark Busters. Don't forget to stop by the library the week before to vote for the "cutest dog in Thurmont".
