Babies With Books: Birth to Twenty-Four Months

Learning to read begins BEFORE your child starts school - as a matter of fact, it begins at birth! Delight and stimulate your baby with songs, a story and activities. Get to know other families an help your baby develop listening and language skills. Tickets will be available on the day of the program for the first 15 parent/child pairs. This program is limited, so come early for your ticket.

Crafting With Friends

Join friends and neighbors on Thursday evenings in March and April at the Thurmont Regional Library to work on crafts you enjoy with other crafty people. Free meet-ups are 6:00 - 7:30 pm. No need to sign up - just drop in to the session of your choice and bring your own project and supplies. See schedule below. Work on your projects, share and trade ideas and supplies with other crafters and plan for future crafting events.

This adult crafting series is being arranged as a community service through the Friends of the Thurmont Regional Library.

Is your curious toddler transitioning from baby to child? Transition to Twos nurtures this exciting time in your child’s development through books, movement, music and rhymes. We’ll begin learning to play with others, wait turns, and listen to stories, as well as dance, sing, laugh and have fun! This storytime is designed specifically for caregivers and children 18 months to 30 months. Registration is available two weeks before the monthly program series begins.

African-American Research and Preservation Symposium

In January, the Carrollton Manor Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated the publication of The Forgotten: The Middletown African Methodist Episcopal Cemetery. The result of 17 months of research, this volume provides source material on the individuals located in a largely undocumented burial ground. The Forgotten can be used for genealogy research, to track a community’s history, and to develop a deeper understanding of a segment of Frederick County’s African-American population.

Pokemon Card Tournament!

The Poketown Gym invites Pokemon Trading Card Game players to take
part in the Mauville Gym League Challenge!

Players will play in an age-separated, Swiss-rounds tournament
(everyone plays the whole time!) using their own Standard Format
60-card decks. You should already know how to play using the official
rules. Don't know how to play? Visit our League Play meetings, (held
most Sundays from 1:45-4:45 PM in the Anthony M. Natelli Community
Room), and we can teach you!
