A visiting scientist, technician, engineer or mathematician from the Fort Detrick Alliance will teach us all about STEM each month!

March theme: Math Is Popping Up
Explore some very interesting 3D objects called Platonic solids, and then build some yourself! Learn about their structure, mathematical properties, and where they occur in nature. Finally, find out whether soap bubbles are always round.

For students in grade 1-5. Registration required.

Have Fun Getting Your Child Ready to Read

This program demonstrates how parents can use five familiar and easy-to-use practices to develop language and other early literacy skills in children from birth to age five. Based on the Every Child Ready to Read® workshops, this program explains why these skills are so important, demonstrates how to help children learn the skills, provides titles of high-interest books that are age appropriate, and sends parents and caregivers home with early literacy activities they can incorporate into their family’s daily routine.

Maryland State Parks Park Pals

Park Rangers from Cunningham Falls State Park bring this special program out of the park and into the library! Get excited about nature and the outdoors in these special sessions for children ages 3-5 with a caregiver. Registration required, for ages 3-5
