Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog! The PAWS to Read program improves children's reading and communication skills by employing a powerful method: reading to a dog. But not just any dog. PAWS to Read dogs are registered therapy animals who volunteer with their owner/handlers as a team, going to schools, libraries and many other settings as reading companions for children.

R.E.A.D. ® with Wags for Hope

The Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program works to improve children's reading and communication skills by providing registered therapy animals who volunteer with their owner/handler (as a team)to meet with and listen to children read.

Maryland State Parks Junior Rangers for 6-10 year olds

: Park Rangers from Cunningham Falls State park bring this special program out of the park and into the library! Take the first steps toward earning your Maryland State Parks Junior Rangers badge by attending Junior Ranger sessions at the library. After completing all 3 sessions, attend 2 more programs at the park to earn your badge. Can’t make it to the library sessions? Cunningham Falls offers sessions all summer long for kids to earn their badge (park entrance fee required).
