Visiting

The Thurmont Center for Agricultural History is the same hours as the Thurmont Regional Library where it is located:

10 AM to 8 PM Monday through Thursday
10 AM to 5 PM Friday and Saturday
1 to 5 PM Sunday
Holiday Closings

Librarians at the Adult Reference Desk are available to help with questions related to the agricultural materials in the Thurmont Center, and will work to accommodate in-person, telephone & email research requests. If you have a complex research topic, you may want to alert us in advance so that we are better prepared to offer effective assistance in the time you have available.

  • Because paper artifacts require temperature and humidity control. The temperature is maintained at 70 degrees, which can seem cool.
  • The Thurmont Center is a pencil only environment. Pens are not permitted.
  • Other special rules of use for the Thurmont Center are outlined in our Rules of Use.

Photocopies and Microfilm Copies

Photocopies are $ .20 per page. All photocopies must be made by a library staff member. Some items in the collection are fragile, and may not be photocopied.

All microfilm readers make print copies, at $.25 per page, payable at checkout.

Using the Collection From Afar...

Research queries are accepted, at no charge except for photocopies at $.20 per copy. Your request should be in written format, clearly stating your need, and providing any related information to assist us in the search. It is extremely helpful if you let us know what sources and institutions you have already consulted. Mail your request to:
