Planning a Visit?

The Maryland Room is chilly! Our paper artifacts require temperature and humidity control. The temperature is maintained at 70 degrees, which can seem cool. Please dress accordingly; a sweater or light jacket will do. Also, the Maryland Room is a pencil only environment. Pens are not permitted when you are working with Maryland Room materials. Please assist us in preserving our important artifacts for all researchers!

If you have a complex research topic, you may want to alert us in advance so that we are better prepared to offer effective assistance in the time you have available.

If you are coming from warmer parts of the country, please remember that winter weather (late December through early March) will occasionally create conditions that cause the library to close. Check weather forecasts when planning your visit and bring boots!

Before planning your trip, check our schedule of Holiday Closings, to avoid making a wasted visit.

Parking

Parking is available at the Carroll Creek parking deck adjacent to the building.

Photocopies and Microfilm Copies

Photocopies are $ .20 per page. Copiers accept coins, one-dollar bills and five-dollar bills.

Some items in the collection are fragile, and may not be photocopied. Oversized documents, such as maps, can only be photocopied by Maryland Room staff. All microfilm readers make print copies, at $.25 per page, payable at checkout. We welcome researchers photographing book and manuscript materials.
