GirlPower Book Club

This club for girls in grades 3-5 will explore books filled with adventure, wonder and heroes - all from FCPL's Summer Reading List for grades 3-5. June: Doll Bones by Holly Black and The Fourteenth Goldfish by Jennifer Holm; July: Waiting for the Magic by Patricia MacLachlan and Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein; and in August, Miss Deb will be hosting a SRC Bingo! based on the FCPL's SRC Reading List. Stop by the Middletown Library to pick up your copy of this month’s selection.

R.E.A.D.® with Wags for Hope

Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a specially trained "listening" animal! The Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program works to improve children's reading and communication skills by providing registered therapy animals who volunteer with their owner/handler (as a team)to meet with and listen to children read.
*Allergy Alert! The dogs and cats are live animals.*

Books4Boys

A boys-only book club for 3rd-5th graders. Heroes, adventure and more are themes of the summer's selections - all on the FCPL's Summer Reading List! June: The Boundless by Kenneth Oppel and Masterminds by Gordon Korman; July: Worm Whisperer by Betty Hick and The Hero's Guide to Storming the Castle by Christopher Healy; and in August, Miss Deb will host SRC Bingo! based on the grade 3-5 Summer Reading List. STEM Challenge - Popcicle Stick Catapult

We will use scientific principles to design and build a catapult out of simple materials, then test out our creations. Who can send items the farthest? Does the weight of the item effect how far the item will fly? Registration required. For grades K-5

GSK Science in the Summer™: Chemistry Level II

Friday, June 26, 2015 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm
GSK Science in the Summer™ will introduce students to Chemistry through interesting investigations that will allow them to explore physical and chemical changes, learn about "matter," make crystals, and determine if liquids are acids, bases, or neutrals. The four-hour program is held over two days. This is a free and fun experiment-oriented course taught by certified teachers to 15 students entering fourth through sixth grades.
