Read to a Dog Friend!

Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a specially trained "listening" animal! The Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program works to improve children's reading and communication skills by providing registered therapy animals who volunteer with their owner/handler (as a team)to meet with and listen to children read.

*Allergy Alert! The dogs and cats are live animals.*


WAGS for Hope comes to the Thurmont Library on the 4th Saturday of every month at 11am.

Summer Reading Family Festival at Westview Promenade

FCPL teams up with Westview Promenade to kick off summer reading. Mark your calendars for free, fantastic fun! No need to sign up - just drop by the courtyard in front of Regal Cinemas for a free performance by the MET's Fun Company, hero photo ops, and more. Bring lawn chairs and your camera!

Held in the Courtyard in front of Regal Cinemas with an inclement weather backup location announced the morning of the event on the Westview Promenade Facebook Page.

Maryland State Parks Junior Rangers for 6-10 year olds

: Park Rangers from Cunningham Falls State park bring this special program out of the park and into the library! Take the first steps toward earning your Maryland State Parks Junior Rangers badge by attending Junior Ranger sessions at the library. After completing all 3 sessions, attend 2 more programs at the park to earn your badge. Can’t make it to the library sessions? Cunningham Falls offers sessions all summer long for kids to earn their badge (park entrance fee required).
