There are many ways to support your public library.
Donate books and other materials
Patron donations add value to FCPL’s collections. FCPL accepts donations of books, magazines, CDs and DVDs. Donations to Frederick County Public Libraries are added to the collection whenever appropriate. If not appropriate to FCPL’s collection, the items may be sold to the public. Items unable to be sold are recycled.
Some of our smaller branches have limited space to store donated materials. To donate substantial volumes of materials, please contact your branch in advance. On request, FCPL will issue you a donation acknowledgement form for your records.
For donations of documents and personal artifacts related to local history, please see our Maryland Room page on Gifts and Donations.

Join the Friends of the Library
As a broad based group independent of formal ties with the governing bodies, the Friends of the Library can be outspoken about the vital need for the highest quality of public library and information services. The FOL adds credibility to the requests for public funding by proving the citizens’ willingness to provide additional private contributions for enhanced services.
There is a Friends of the Library group for each of our branches.
