Kids (birth through 5th grade) can sign up for “Fizz, Boom, READ!” while teens (6th grade through college freshmen) can sign up for “Spark a Reaction!” Both kids and teens can register online at and then visit their local library to pick up their Summer Reading gameboards.

Children and teens who have registered for Summer Reading can track their reading minutes online, log the books they’ve read, and write book reviews to share with other Summer Reading participants. Selected book reviews may also appear in The Frederick News-Post throughout the summer.

FCPL’s Summer Reading Program also gives children and teens an opportunity to complete fun activities and win prizes. Children and teens must be registered by August 9th to be eligible for our Grand Prize Drawing. Register today at!
