Your FCPL library card now gets you access to the best digital content and eLibrary services available. With no overdue fees and updated apps, reading magazines, downloading music, and checking out audiobooks and eBooks has never been easier.
Zinio for Libraries is the world’s largest newsstand and your FCPL library card lets you download an unlimited number of magazines from Zinio’s collection including Good Housekeeping, National Geographic, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, Eating Well and more. Zinio for Libraries features the latest issue of nearly 100 magazines and they’re all available for your smartphone, tablet, or computer and can be accessed at home, on the road, or in the library. There’s no limit to the number of magazines you can download and there are no due dates or overdue fees.
Speaking of items with no due dates that you can keep for as long as you like, did you know that you can download three free MP3s each week with your library card? Freegal Music features millions of songs from thousands of music labels. The MP3s are DRM (digital rights management) free and are compatible with any MP3 player. Freegal works on both PCs and Macs and has a new mobile app for iOS and Android devices. Best of all, the songs are yours to keep! Freegal Music downloads have no due dates and no overdue fees. The weekly counter starts Sunday night at midnight so make sure you’ve downloaded your three free MP3s for the week before then and check back on Monday morning (or later in the week) to download three more.
Audiobook and eBook lovers now have three digital collections to choose from: the Maryland Digital eLibrary Consortium continues to offer both audiobooks and eBooks, while OneClickdigital offers only audiobooks, and our newest offering, 3M Cloud Library, offers only eBooks. The eBooks and audiobooks are available in a variety of formats that are compatible with a variety of devices and eReaders.
Maryland Digital eLibrary Consortium allows you to have 6 check-outs total of any combination of eBooks and/or audiobooks and you can place holds on up to 6 additional items. The Maryland Digital eLibrary Consortium is powered by OverDrive and a variety of media managers and free apps are available to help you get the titles you want onto the device of your choice. The Consortium’s audiobooks and eBooks are available in a variety of formats including Kindle, EPUB, MP3, and WMA. Please note that not all formats work on all devices so it’s important to take note of your device and its compatible formats. Like our other eLibrary offerings, there are no fines or late fees! Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period although you may need to delete the titles from your device to free up space for more great eBooks and audiobooks from FCPL’s eLibrary.
OneClickdigital works with the free OneClickdigital Media Manager on Macs and PCs and via a free app for iOS and Android devices. You can check out up to 10 audiobooks at once for 14 days and OneClickdigital even has a renew feature that lets you renew an audiobook once for an additional 7 days. How awesome is that? OneClickdigital is currently our only eLibrary service that provides renewals.
And last but not least, we’re proud to announce our newest, and possibly easiest-to-use, eLibrary service: 3M Cloud Library. Everything from browsing to reading is done within the free 3M Cloud Library app. (Don’t worry, you can access it from a computer, too!) 3M Cloud Library offers 6 checkouts at once and works on iPads, iPhones, Android tablets and phones, and with some eReading devices like the Kobo and Nook eReaders by transferring files from your PC to your eReader. Titles are available in the 3M app across multiple devices and the app even provides automatic syncing so you never lose your place. You can start reading on your iPad and continue reading later from your phone--right where you left off!
3M Cloud Library offers some titles not available via the other eLibrary services due to some unique publisher agreements. All titles available in OneClickdigital, 3M Cloud, and the Maryland Digital eLibrary Consortium can be found in the individual collections or by searching the catalog.
